"Dear
dashboard,
My recipe for French silk pie calls for 4 raw eggs. The filling is beaten for 5 minutes after each egg is added, but the pie is never cooked. Is it safe to eat?" —Cindy Marquart, via email
A. You definitely don’t want to eat a pie made with uncooked eggs; you run the risk of getting a foodborne illness. Instead, find a version that does require cooking or switch to a recipe that’s egg-free.
Here’s the easiest chocolate pie ever:
1. Prepare 1 (3.4-oz) box instant chocolate pudding mix, using the amount of milk specified for pie making. Stir in 1 (8-oz) container thawed Cool Whip, reserving about ½ cup.
2. Spoon the mixture into a graham cracker piecrust. Top with the reserved Cool Whip and refrigerate.
3. Just before serving, sprinkle the pie with a few shavings from a chocolate bar.
